Everything You Need to Know About Lake Mission Viejo

Did you know Mission Viejo has a manmade lake most residents are members of? Here is everything you need to know about Lake Mission Viejo.

About the Lake

Lake Mission Viejo opened in 1978. The lake is California's largest manmade lakes, holding 1.2 billion gallons of water. The lake is up to 70 feet deep, and the entire area covers about 180 acres. The Lake Mission Viejo Association, a Homeowner's Association, has owned and run the lake since 1977.

The lake is not a public lake. 24,995 homes are under the lake association that provides the membership for the lake. For reference, there are 32,650 so over three-fourths of the city’s homes qualify for the lake membership. Your real estate agent can let you know if you are a member of the lake.
